Campiello partakes in San Pietro fiesta

The Campiello project recently held another important demonstration of its system during the San Pietro Fiesta in Venice at the end of June. This ancient seasonal feast, one of the major events in the Castello neighbourhood, is a kind of community celebration, and involves lots of traditional activities and events — games, processions along the canals, picture exhibitions and concerts.

Campiello’s demonstration was among the “cultural events” and attracted a lot of interest. The local school P.F. Calvi had researched and collected data on seasonal events, associations, craftsmen, and local tradition in the Castello neighbourhood, and formed the content of the system’s knowledge base.

Local people and tourists could query the system to find out more about the neighbourhood, and were invited to enrich the data with additional information or comments.
