Centre Borschette, Rue Froissart, 36, 1040 Brussels. This special information workshop is intended for people interested in responding to the call on Experimental School Environments. The workshop is organised by Esprit Long Term Research, in collaboration with related programmes in DGXXII and DGXIII. The "i3 Experimental School Environments" initiative was launched as part of the ESPRIT call for proposals of 16 September 1997, with the aim of exploring "new learning paradigms" for children. Specifically, the initiative calls for research on new kinds of IT-based tools or environments designed to enable new approaches to learning. It focuses on learning in young children, typically in the age range of 4 to 8. Working with this age group provides fertile ground for both educational and technological innovation. The workshop aimed at people that are interested in responding to this call. These are expected to include teachers, schools, educationalists, technologists, IT providers, publishers, toy-makers, designers etc. The workshop will include presentations by European Commission staff, as well as a number of experts in the field. There will also be time for participants to network and identify possible partners. Throughout the day project officers will be on hand for one-on-one discussions. Tentative Workshop Agenda:
