Florence Amerigo Vespucci Airport is the nearest to Siena. Several carriers operate on Florence, amongst them Air France, Alitalia, Lufthansa, and Sabena.

Also Florence is a major Italian railway junction.

From Florence to Siena you can get either by bus or car.

Bus: From the Florence Airport you should take the 'Sita' shuttle to the Florence down-town terminal Sita Bus Station at 17 Via S. Caterina da Siena, (close by the railway station). Departures from the airport every 30 minutes in connection with flights.
Travel time: approximately 30 minutes. Ticket price: ITL 6,000

From Florence to Siena, you can board the bus from the Florence down-town terminal Sita Bus Station at 17 Via S. Caterina da Siena, (close by the railway station).
Two express busses operate, the 'SIENA DIRETTA' and the 'SIENA RAPIDA'. They leave approximately every half hour, please consult the bus time table. Travel time: approximately 90 minutes. Ticket price: ITL 11,000. You should leave the buss at the Siena buss terminus, at the San Domenico church and the historic centre of Siena.

Train: There is a railway from Florence to Siena. Travelling by train costs about the same as by bus, but it takes more time, and the Siena railway station is situated about 5 km outside historic Siena.

Car: The roads leading to Siena.

When you get close to Siena, do the following:
Leave the highway at 'Siena Sud' (If you come from Florence or Grosseto)
Follow the signs 'Parcheggio Il Campo' (Parking Area) and 'Porta Tufi' (City Door)

When you arrive at 'Porta Tufi' (see map below):
A hostess and a City Policeman will expect you. The Policeman can accompany you if needed.
They'll give you a permission with the 'name' of your project.
You must leave the 'Santa Maria della Scala' ASAP, because, for security reasons, we cannot house in the Cathedral square all the project vans.

Please do not forget to leave 'Santa Maria della Scala' ASAP, otherwise some vans have to wait outside 'Porta Tufi' for this.

Please do not forget to park your van outside the historic centre.

We'll expect you on the 19th of October from 8.30.

The only car rental in Siena is Hertz, also having locations in Florence, in the airport and in the city.

The exhibition area is in the Santa Maria della Scala Museum and may be reached by car (only for exhibition set-up purposes) with a special permission lasting no more than half an hour.
