The Call Communication Task Group (CCTG) started
its work by the end of September 1996 and terminated
its activities by mid-December 1996. The CCTG had the urgent mission
of communicating the 18 December 1996 Call for i3 projects to
relevant communities who do not normally receive information from
Esprit, such as industrial designers, social scientists, broadcasting
studios, local governments, SMEs in such areas, consumer organisations
etc. Added to the Call material, the CCTG would present information
on i3net to potential future i3net Associate Partners and others
interested in i3net activities.
More specifically, the task group had the following
four objectives:
1. Identification of the target communities
in Europe.
2. Identification of appropriate channels for
rapidly contacting the communities, including identification of
appropriate conferences at which to present the i3 Call and i3net
to the communities.
3. Definition and implementation of the information
to be communicated.
4. Take over by i3net of the i3 Call brokerage
for the 18 December Call 1996 from the EU's CORDIS database.
The CCTG involved the i3net Coordinator (Convenor:
Niels Ole Bernsen, MIP, Denmark), Domus Academy, Italy,
and LIMSI, France. All Partners provided input to the task
group.
To achieve the objectives the following actions
were taken: All i3net Partners were asked to identify relevant communities in Europe. This produced an extensive list of contact persons and sites throughout Europe. Call Cards were sent to the target communities by mail. The Call Cards were designed by Domus Academy. The card contents were contributed by Esprit and CCS. More than 9000 i3 Call Cards were dispatched. i3net's web pages provided access to the Call information package and other relevant documents. The i3net Coordinator set up an email server which would answer any email by returning a postscript version of the Call information package. The i3 Call and i3net were presented at two conferences. Jakub Wejchert and Niels Ole Bernsen made presentations at the Doors of Perception conference in Amsterdam on 7-8 November 1996. Jakub Wejchert presented the i3 Call and i3net at the Esprit Conference in Brussels 25-27 November 1996.
i3net took over the EU's Call Brokerage Service
and converted it into an online web service which allowed anybody
to add, change or delete his/her own coordinates in the brokerage
list. LIMSI and CCS developed this functionality.
